Ok, here we have 3 different images.
The first image was a background I started working on that I didn't like, so I applied flamingpear's twist filter to the image I'd already created.
Click on the dice to get the desired effect you want, everyone likes something different, so I won't give you precise co-ordinates.
As you can see, I achieved a different effect with the same filter with the above images.
Layer the 2 backgrounds one on top of the other and set your erase:

and your image should look something like this:
It could still use something so as everyone has their own brushes they like to use you can play around with it some more.
To this I added a brush from h-b-grfx, then applied the dodge from the retouch tools in psp, and here's the finished product.
